An RESP includes a subscriber, a beneficiary, and a promoter.
The subscriber is you—the person who opens a plan on behalf of a child. You can do this yourself or bring on a joint subscriber, like your spouse or common-law partner.
The beneficiary is the child who will access the money when they need it for post-secondary education.
The promoter is the company that administers the RESP. For CST Spark, the promoter is our parent organization, the Canadian Scholarship Trust Foundation.
