Do contributions to a Family RESP need to be allocated to specific beneficiaries?

Yes, contributions have to be allocated to a beneficiary for grant purposes. Contributions and/or Education Assistance Payments (EAPs) can be taken out and given to a single beneficiary, or divided among beneficiaries, at the direction of the subscriber.

Bright tip: When you’re setting up a Family RESP plan with CST Spark, it’s up to you, the subscriber, to do the math and allocate how much of your contributions and EAPs will go to each of the beneficiaries.
